Dear Fellow Supervisors,

I know you are all so busy at this time of year and so will keep this brief. I had a few important reminders to share with you and would appreciate it if, where appropriate, you can share these opportunities with your employees as well.

1. HOUSING SURVEY: Out of 4,000 employees, only 400 have filled out the housing survey, so we’ve extended the deadline to Tuesday, December 21st. Anything you can do to encourage employees to fill it out (and fill it out yourself!) is most appreciated. The survey can be accessed here in English and Spanish. The survey provides important data to help guide our future housing efforts.

2. LEADERSHIP IN ACTION PROGRAM FOR NEW SUPERVISORS: At Brand Camp, we heard that employees wanted a clearer understanding of how to advance in our company. One way they can stand out and improve their skills is to participate in our leadership programs. The Leadership in Action program meets monthly January-April. The deadline has been moved back to December 22 and it requires you to nominate your employees (it's a short five minute form). Point out those shining young leaders who are new to the world of supervision within your department! You can read more about the scope of the program and nominate someone here.

3. CMC PUBLIC SPEAKING CLASS FOR ALL EMPLOYEES: Fear, Loathing, and Public Speaking. This four-week, eight-session public speaking workshop can help new supervisors or up-and-coming employees improve their communications skills. The class meets twice a week for two-hour sessions. The cost of this course is $129 -- talk to your department manager about sharing the cost (or contact me). Share this class with your employees and reach out to me with any questions. This class was specifically designed in collaboration with CMC for ASC employees. S3 instructor Michael Monroney provides simple communication tools, strategies, and tips that are easy to use and produce immediate results. The dates are Feb. 1-24 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6pm. More information is here.

4. RECOGNITION VOUCHERS, CELEBRATIONS, GRATITUDE: We’d love to highlight more employees and encourage you to send in those recognition voucher stories as well as promotions, new hires, shout-outs and gratitudes, or interesting stories about employees that should be told.
