SUPERVISOR DIGEST

1-5-22

Dear Fellow Supervisors,

We’ve got a lot going on these days and are committed to keeping you as informed as possible so you can support your employees and departments. See below for some updates and reminders.

Thank you!
Susan Harig
Director of Engagement & Development, Human Resources

CHECK IN WITH YOUR EMPLOYEES THIS JANUARY

Provide Feedback: Employee engagement is critical, and January is an excellent time to sit down with your employees and provide feedback on how they are doing. If you need assistance on how to have a tough conversation with your employee regarding performance, reach out to Susan Harig ([email protected]). If you need assistance on documenting employee issues, please reach out to your HR representative. Here's a blog with some great reminders for when meeting with your employee for a check-in.

Stay Interview: It's also a great time to have "Stay Interviews." This is not a time to review performance but rather a time to build trust with an employee, find out what motivates your employee, and gather information. Stay interviews are a time to discuss with your seasonal employees if they plan to return next season, what they would need to return, and what their career plans are. Some sample questions could be:
• Do you feel like your knowledge, skills, and experience are being fully utilized?
• What would make your job more satisfying to you?
• How can you be better supported?
• What keeps you working here and what might tempt you to leave? What would you need to return next season?
• What opportunities would you like to have outside of your normal duties or what would you like to learn outside your current skill set?
More information on the Stay Interview is available here, here and here.

RECOGNITION VOUCHERS

Have you handed some out lately? Please let us know! We'd really like to capture the great stories of customer service, values and employee successes to share with and inspire all our employees. Please email a few sentences about why you handed one out and a photo of the employee (if you can swing it, if not don't worry) to [email protected].

THE EMPLOYEE PORTAL & EMAILS

Over 400 employees have never logged into the portal this season. If they haven't logged into the portal, they are not signed up to receive company emails including weekly newsletters, Mike and Katie's updates, the Greenletter, Covid Updates and more. We know engagement is a critical piece of employee retainment, so we need ALL employees to be logged into the portal and added to our email lists. You may receive an email this week with the list of employees under your supervision who have not logged in. Please reach out to these employees. The directions for first timers this season logging in is here:

PORTAL LOGIN DIRECTIONS:
If you are new or just now logging in after time away, here's how to set up your SSO to get into the portal. If you do not log into the portal, you will not receive important company-wide emails.

STEP 1: Go first to Kronos (the HR workforce management system) at: https://Myhr.aspensnowmass.com. When you log into Kronos for the first time, log in with:
Username: employee number
Password: password birthday and last 4 SSN combo (MMDDYYYYSSSS)

STEP 2: It will prompt you to reset your password and the password needs to be 12 characters long.

STEP 3: Once you have updated the password, you should have access to everything: Kronos, benefits, and employee portal.

STEP 4: To access the portal at that point, go to https://www.ascemployeeportal.com. When you sign in to the portal, use the following:
• If you have an aspensnowmass.com email, use that and your Kronos password.
• If you don’t, use this: Username: youremployeeid#@aspensnowmass.com (example: [email protected]) and your new Kronos password.

Contact the IT Help Desk at (970) 300-7070 if this does not work.

BECOME A NAVIGATOR

Navigators are people who have volunteered to become a resource for new leaders in our company as they navigate their way through the first several months of employment at ASC.

Program Summary:
  • You provide a photo, bio, your areas of expertise, and a quick summary of why someone would want to speak with you for guidance.
  • We will post your information on the portal and make newly hired leaders aware of the Navigators and encourage connections. They will reach out to you directly.
  • As people reach out to you, schedule times that work for both of you to meet or talk.
  • Let Susan Harig know of your progress, successes, and questions.
  • Meanwhile, Susan will be building a supervisor survival guide, with your input.
Thanks for considering becoming a Navigator. The more we can make ourselves and our institutional knowledge available to all employees seeking to learn more, the stronger our new leaders will evolve to be. If you'd like to get involved, email [email protected].

BECOME A LIFT ATTENDANT

We are still short-staffed in some of our lift operations and are looking for more salaried staff to get lift training so they can fill in when needed during upcoming FLSS peak periods or business disruptions. There’s a training at 9am on Friday in the Snowmass Village locker room, located across the hill from the Snowmass Village Mall (i.e. walk across Fanny Hill to get there). Please give 24-hour notice if you can attend to: [email protected]. If 6 people don't sign up, this training will be cancelled. We appreciate your support of our front line positions!

WORK READY

According to Alisa Vetter Owens, upwards of 700 employee still have not completed their Work Ready requirement. The deadline for the season is coming up on February 1. After this deadline, if your employee has not completed Work Ready they cannot be on the slopes. Want to check on your staff? Contact Alisa directly at [email protected] for an update. Employees can register for Work Ready and found out more on the portal here.

SUPERVISOR EMAILS

If you supervise other supervisors or managers or have new supervisors, please check with them to ensure they're getting these emails. We're reconciling our internal communications Supervisor list and have found some people have slipped off. If they are not receiving Supervisor emails, please have them email [email protected] to be added.

COVID 19 UPDATE

REMINDER: While the revised Pitkin County Guidelines, allowing certain employees to return to work after 5 days, are important, EQUALLY important is emphasizing with your employees the five principles for limiting spread:
• Stay home if sick
• If sick, get tested
• Get vaccinated and boosted
• Wear a mask
• Wash your hands well and often
Covid-19 is not the only threat out there to our workforce-- the "crud" and the flu are also circulating and can take down a department as effectively as Covid-19. If your employee is obviously sick but tests negative, they still should stay home. Pitkin County offers some best practices for staying healthy here as does the CDC here.

UPDATE TO: The Aspen Highlands testing location is moving to Tuesday and Friday afternoons, 2:30-4:30pm. All other dates remain the same at this time and can be found here.
