Employees must notify their supervisor (or acting supervisor) of a workplace injury, regardless of whether they will seek medical treatment, before the end of their shift in which the accident occurs.

What if the injury is minor and doesn’t require immediate medical attention?

YES! Every workplace injury must be reported, regardless of whether the employee will immediately seek medical treatment. The injury will be ?report only? and Andrew Joy will keep the FRA and associated paperwork in case the employee needs treatment in the future

Employees can complete drug tests at Aspen Highlands HR or Snowmass. Your manager will provide you with drug testing information if you have a workplace injury.?

I was injured at work – where can I go for medical treatment? Can I go to my chiropractor?

  • If the injury is an emergency, seek medical treatment from an emergency facility
  • If the injury is not an emergency, the employee must seek treatment at one of the providers listed on the Designated Provider List
  • Employees must first go to one of the designated providers on the list provided. The primary provider will refer employees for additional treatment (i.e. orthopedic evaluation, chiropractic, physical therapy, etc.) if it is deemed necessary

What is covered?

  • All medical treatment related to the claim and deemed to be reasonable by your doctor
  • Lost time wages if you are deemed unable to work by your doctor
    • The first three (3) days of lost time are paid through normal payroll as ?Injury Pay?
    • If the employee misses more than three (3) days of work, they will be compensated for lost time by our Work Comp Third Party Administrator (TPA) Gallagher Bassett based on the average weekly wage (AWW) of their last 52 weeks of wages – these can be from Aspen SkiCo or another company that you have worked for. All wages from the past year are used in this calculation

My doctor released me to “modified duty”….what is that?

  • When an employee can return to work with certain restrictions, they are considered to be on Modified Duty. The workers’ compensation manager will work with your manager to outline tasks that you are able to perform when you come back to work with modified duty.
  • If you earn less than the AWW during this time, Gallagher Bassett will make a payment to make up the difference

I got a bill in the mail from one of my medical providers – what do I do?

Please send a copy of the bill to Andrew Joy either via email at [email protected] or inter-office to Aspen Highlands HR. Gallagher Bassett will pay the bill.
